BIOGRAPHY

With a rich and expressive vocal timbre, Manuel Mas has established himself as one of the most versatile Spanish baritones of his generation. Born in Valencia, he began his musical training with the bass-baritone Francisco Valls, later refining his studies at the Joaquín Rodrigo Conservatory of Music in Valencia and the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid.

Throughout his career, he has embodied roles of great dramatic depth and musicality, including Il Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana, Nabucco in Nabucco, Rigoletto and Count Monterone in Rigoletto, Amonasro in Aida, Giorgio Germont in La Traviata, Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera, Baron Scarpia in Tosca, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Lord Enrico Ashton in Lucia di Lammermoor, and Marcello and Schaunard in La Bohème. His repertoire also features prominent roles in zarzuela and Spanish operatic works, among them Joaquín (La del Manojo de Rosas), Pedro Stakoff (Katiuska), Juan Pedro (La Rosa del Azafrán), Juan de Eguía (La Tabernera del Puerto), and Roque (Marina).

Stages and tours

His stage activity spans major national and international venues, ranging from the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia and the Teatro Real in Madrid to the Opéra de Massy (France), the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana, the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, and Italian theatres such as the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti in Spoleto, the Teatro Morlacchi in Perugia, and the Teatro Comunale in Todi. He has also appeared on stages including the Teatre Principal in Palma de Mallorca, the Teatre de La Farándula in Sabadell, and the Teatro Jovellanos in Gijón.
